Welcome to the LEAP Program

Learner Empowerment through Agency Partnerships  

The LEAP Program is a community, nonpaid internship program for young adults with disabilities, ages 18-22, who are pursuing a future involving paid employment.  Interns are supervised by LEAP Trainers within community businesses.  Transportation is arranged by the referring school. 

Students who are interested in the program must complete a LEAP application and meet program requirements.

Intern expectations include the following:

  • Work on-site for 4 hours, from 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM
  • Work with the LEAP Trainer and worksite mentors
  • Adhere to business requirements

Eligibility includes, but not limited to the following:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  •  Completed the core courses for graduation
  • Comply with work site policies and procedures
  • Communicate a desire to participate in a nonpaid training internship
  • Able to independently manage mealtime and bathroom needs
  • Adhere to expected social and public behaviors
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Able to work in a 1 to 8 trainer/student ratio
  •  Communicate effectively
